Credentialed Professional member, American Art Therapy Association
Director, national Art Therapy Credentials Board
Faculty, Emporia State University Department of Counselor Education Graduate Art Therapy Counseling Program
I am a native Kansan who has drawn and painted since childhood. I studied art and psychology for my bachelor's degree, returned to school for a certificate in substance abuse counseling, and earned a master of science in art therapy. I have worked as a substance abuse counselor, program director, and art therapist for over twenty years and have been on the faculty of the graduate art therapy program at Emporia State University since 2002. In 2009 I was appointed to the Board of Directors of the national Art Therapy Credentials Board after having served on its Certification Committee for five years. In 2010 I was elected by fellow credential-holders nationwide to another term as a director on the Board. I opened Art & Insight, my creativity studio and private practice in art therapy, in October 2005. In April 2011 I moved from my original location at 4824 Quail Crest Place to my light-filled current location.
My mission through Art and Insight is to facilitate clients’ healing and self-discovery through a positive experience of creativity in a caring and supportive environment.
